Dear Clients and Friends,

john_bI hope that each of you had a great Thanksgiving and that you and your families have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thinking back on the past year, we have seen many changes in this ever changing world of technology. Microsoft Windows 8 has become a mainstream operating system, more cloud based services have become available and smart phones have become more and more powerful and useful.

As I mentioned last month, Microsoft is ending all support of Windows XP on April 8, 2014. All new security updates and patches will be stopped, leaving Windows XP a prime target for hackers and virus authors. We are strongly encouraging everyone to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8. There are several factors to consider when deciding whether to upgrade to Windows7 or Windows 8. One of the main factors is whether or not your application software, such as accounting programs, databases, etc., is supported by Windows 8. If one or more of your programs is not supported in Windows 8, Windows 7 will most likely be your best choice.

There are several articles in this edition of our newsletter that we hope you find of interest. As always, please call our office at 205-980-9903 with any technology questions that you have. Thank you for allowing us to serve you during this past year. We are committed to providing you with the best possible computer service during the next year and every year to come. Until next month….
